Sometimes life doesn’t bring you where you want to go, but in a path that’s truly yours, it brings you where you need to go. Today La Bride is going to bring you this wedding photographer from Taiwan, SuSu. Two years ago, he was your regular computer-starting office worker, but he couldn’t sit still with his ineffable attraction to photography. So in October 2013, he bought his first set of DSLR, forever said goodbye to his white collared life and immersed himself in the world of wedding photography.
In 2014, SuSu started his journey in international photography competitions, in 2015, he became a certified member of three internationally recognised photography associations including the MPA, WPPA and WPPI. Today he has won more than 100 international awards including those from the United states and Europe.
Q: Hi SuSu, We’re very happy to be interviewing you today. How did you learn photography? Which photographer do you look up to as an idol or has left you a great impression?
A: Hi. For my idols, in 2014, I met two internationally known photographers, Keda.Z and Johnson Wee, during that time I wasn’t familiar with photography yet, but when I witnessed their focus and attitudes, I really admired them, they were zealous and willing to share, it was the reason why I wanted to pick up a camera in the first place. The most impressionable thing was, they were famous people, but they were easily approachable. This was far different from the attitudes in a working office, and it gave me great inspiration on top of my love for photography, a kind of enthusiasm for documenting what’s beautiful and sharing it.
Q: In your point of view, what is interesting about photography? Can you share with us a topic of photography that you like, or a style you’re good at?
A: To be honest, photography makes me really happy, many topics interest me, but after shooting weddings, bridal, product, honeymoon, travelling and celebrity photography… these topics, I realised that what interests me most is people and their relationship to their surroundings. utilising a gentle person and match a vast scenery, or an elegant attitude against an impressive building, simple lines with the use of light, every situation is a new challenge.
Q: After all your shooting experience, which wedding has left you the greatest impression? Can you share it with us?
A: No matter which country the wedding is in, different ethnicities with different traditional cultures, they’re all very interesting, every person has their own way of expression affections. So to me, each couple has different key moments. The only thing that doesn’t change, is that each moment is filled with love and joy, I love chatting with my client’s family during photography, besides becoming familiar with them so that they’re no so shy of the camera, I can get in closet to their feelings and capture very many touching moments.
Thank you SuSu for sharing with us all these exciting photographs and stories, after admiring his photographs, we realise that they are more than that, they are images to stories, like the bride standing at the window and gently touching her wedding dress, it was as if she was having a conversation with it, and carrying a kind of beautiful hope with her.
