Q: Hi Gao Shang, would you care to introduce GS Floral design in a few words?
A: GS Floral Design was established in 2007, it is a high-end floral design agency that I founded. The studio has been up for 9 years, carrying with it unique designs and professionalism, earning the approvals of international brands, China’s top advertising companies and recognised wedding vendors, more importantly we’ve gained the trust and admiration of many couples. Our services are excellently well-rounded, we do floral designs for wedding ceremonies, receptions, company events, environmental and space designs, to floral design and arrangement classes.
Q: Can you show us a couple of hand bouquet designs that you think are special or particularly satisfied with?
A: We have designed for many large company events, celebrity weddings, parties and banquets. For example: Beckham’s Beijing banquet during his China tour, soccer star Huang Bowen, film star Xiao Che’s wedding ceremony, Kim Ji-mun’s “crazy in love” themed wedding at Chang Chun train station, and Yu En Tai’s wedding.
But until now, there isn’t a design that we’re most completely satisfied with because we’re always looking forward to the next breakthrough.
Here are some bouquets that we have designed. We hope you like them.
Q: As the designated floral designer for many weddings, can you share with us some that are particularly outstanding?
A: Here’re some of our previous works.
The first design: The calibration of love
For this theme, we used to language of flowers to present the couple’s happiness. We used a pink palette as the base for the design, and matched it with small amounts of lavender, blue, white and red. Customised props placed on either side of the T-stage, with roman and greek numbers to represent every second of their love.
The second design: Lanzhou Wedding Show【A Luxurious Feast】
《Luxurious Feast》：A long river, a huge desert, moonlight, and carriages made into a chinese-styled coloured painting.
This design was made with a lot of creativity and hard work, we used 100,000 flowers, 4000 glass tubes, the stark contrast of red and black, 15,000 chopsticks for the structure, 200 hanging glass bubble candle holders to form streaks of sun rays. Floral designs were used to imitate the Lanzhou’s landscape and historical sites including water carriages, Huanghe bridge and Danxia landforms. We battled 5 days and 3 nights and to complete this piece of work.
The Third Design: Beckham’s China Tour
We formed bamboos into arches and connected them together, signifying the ancient great wall of China. We used tree branches as the base for the arches and arranged them with flowers to create mountains. We used wind mills as a presentation in our floral design to represent our long historical culture of 5000 years. The design was filled with the feel of China, relaying our love to David Beckham.
The Fourth Design: Kim Ji-Mun’s Chang Chun Wedding
Kim (jin) and Lan, my last name is yours and your name is now mine. Gold (jin) and blue (lan) theme wedding inspired by the couple’s surname. Sapphire blossoms with golden roses, and European styled table centrepieces, the set was dignified with luxurious designed and livened with elegant colours.
Thank you Gao Shang for taking the time to share your work with us!
