Q: Amy, can you introduce yourself briefly? For example, your specialities or what sets you apart from other make up artists?
A: I have a paramedical beauty background, specialising in Asian skin and complexion. I also have extensive knowledge in Asian problem skin, with teaching background. So I have an advantage on how to treat certain skin conditions and give professional skin advise.
On top of this, I’m in love with natural looking makeup, which emphasises their natural beauty, bringing out their best features and hiding what they like the least.
Q: What do you like about being a bridal make up artist?
A: I like my job because I can do my part for a bride-to-be in the most important day in her life. As a girl, I love to talk to people about current beauty trends. And I feel that the emotions people give out on their wedding day is always real, nobody is pretending to like the other. Natural looking make up can also be used to bring out a bride’s natural beauty. It is my best love.
Q: Can you introduce two most popular hair styles you’ve done for Asian (Chinese) brides?
A: Most Asian brides want to respect their parents by having a tea ceremony. Recently I’ve been having a lot of requests the following hairstyles:
– low, soft side buns, with texture
This hairstyle will suit most faces, it’s very sweet, young and fresh. It’s a traditional hairstyle with a modern twist. On top of that any kind of hair accessory, including flowers, when added to this hairstyle, looks amazing.
– hair down with soft curls, to frame the face for a girly look
This hairstyle has a “slimming effect”, brides styling this look are both natural looking and sweet. But remember not to cover your face too much! Everyone still wants to have a look at that beautiful face of yours!
Q: Summer is coming in Australia, can you please give us some tips on daily routines to protect our skin?
A: Firstly, do not spend too much time in the sun. Being under the sun too long will cause the collagen in our skin to break down, hence causing skin problems such as freckles and skin aging. The second tip is to use more sun block, this will help to keep moisture in our skin. Also, do not use the same facial cream as you did in winter. Winter face creams tend to have more oil content, but in summer we want a face cream with more moisture. Lastly, for a supple skin, drink more water. But do not drink too much water before going to sleep, because it might cause swelling under the eyes the next morning.
Hey girls! Remember to take on these good skin care tips. Here’s La Bride wishing you to be the most beautiful bride you can be :)
