The good news is you can hire the masters of the art to have a unique and surreal wedding experience. La Bride recently spoke with Perth wedding planner Cathrin from Cathrin D’Entremont Weddings to gather some helpful insights for the soon-to-be couples. Read on till the end to know what she has to say.
Q: Hi Cathrin, We are excited to get to know more about you! Can you give us a little background on how you got started in planning and designing weddings? What drives you?
A: Born and raised in Berlin Germany, I created many events throughout the world. Having lived in many different countries, I have been fortunate enough to experience the vast differences in cultures, and where ever I was at the time, I created events.
Settling in Perth Western Australia, together with my husband, we raised 3 gorgeous children who have their own unique ways and talents. In 2005 Cathrin D’Entremont Weddings was born creating a boutique experience for my couples. I have truly enjoyed my journey so far, love my clients and working with so many talented and inspiring people. Sharing for a short period of time the moments of joy with my couples and their family’s is truly priceless.
Q: Will you explain the services you offer to couples? What is the difference between designing a wedding vs. planning and coordinating? And do you customize packages?
A: I am a full-service planning company. Each wedding is one-of-a-kind and a translation of our client’s style and budget. A wedding planner deals with all of the logistical elements whereas a wedding stylist deals with all of the styling elements of an event.
Logistical elements include venue and vendor selection, creating timelines, budget planning, and onsite day coordination.
Styling element is creating the WOW factor with unique floral designs, stationery, lighting, draping and an overall ambiance.
We take each client through our unique design process to give them a comprehensive vision of their upcoming event. After an initial free consultation, I present my couples with their custom quote reflecting their requirements. I only take on a limited amount of weddings per year so that I can ensure the integrity of my services and this is important to me.
Q: What are some of your organizational techniques? What helps you keep track of every detail of each brides big day?
A: I am a very organized person and also do not like to leave things for another day. Every detail from my couples is getting documented. I take my couple through their planning process step by step. Its’ a little like a puzzle – do the outside pieces first – the structure, hiring all vendors and then the fun part filling in the middle – all the styling details.
On the wedding day, I am known to execute everything in the background in a military style. No detail is ever overlooked and every checklist must be ticked.
Q: One of the reasons a bride could seek out a wedding planner is to help with the styling and design. What are some ways you help brides decide on the style when they come to you not knowing what they want?
A: I initially spend a considerable amount of time with my couples. I get to know my couple likes and dislikes. Most couples already have a vision in how they like their wedding to look and feel like and what is important to them. I share a Pinterest board with them and can see over time what their preferences are and then streamline it all together in harmony.
Q: After planning so many beautiful weddings and becoming a prominent planner in Perth, Australia where do you see your successes taking you in the future? Is there something you’d like to accomplish that you haven’t yet?
A: I absolutely love what I do and I never want to stop creating weddings and events. Each couple is like a blank canvas which I paint their story on. I challenge myself with each wedding or event and try to make them better than the previous one infused with unique elements. Over the years I have accumulated so much knowledge that I would love to pass it on to the next generation and make sure that our industry will always be ‘Top Notch’.
