Q: How did you start your career as a Makeup artist?
A: I have always had a passion for makeup from a young age, always into my mom’s make up playing around until i was old enough to get my own. I studied at New Zealand’s top makeup school Samala Robinson Academy back in 2007 when i was 18 years old i am now 28, ten years later and am still in love with makeup as much as i was back then. Never bored and always eager to create something new and exciting. I am addicted to the creativity of makeup art, and i get such a satisfaction from making people feel good about themselves. I went on to study Hair in 2009, with French based company Mods Hair. I am in love with hair art aswell it has given me the skills to give my brides the complete wedding package.
Q: Who are some people that have inspired you throughout your career?
A: I have to say that Audrey Hepburn,Marilyn Monroe,Elizabeth Taylor and Bridget Bardot are the four original old Hollywood beauties that have being a huge inspiration for me and have influenced my style of art. This may shine through with my love old bold lips or smokey sultry eyes.
Q: How would you describe your signature look and what is it about your style that sets you apart from other makeup artists?
A: My signature look would have to be beautiful, healthy , glowing, soft dewy skin. I love the use of a subtle highlighter to enhance what natural beauty the bride already has. My job as a makeup artist is to accentuate the beauty from within. I complement this look with soft, romantic smokey eyes.
Q: Are there any trends that you absolutely love or would love to see brides leave behind?
A: My favorite bridal trend is Bohemian. I absolutely love this era and style. It’s incredibly romantic and carefree. Any bride can transform this style into their own unique creation to reflect onto their personalities and the bride and grooms love story.
Q: What is the most important beauty advice that you can give to women?
A: “For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others: for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness: and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.” – Audrey Hepburn
Q: What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned, and would pass along to others just getting started in your field?
A: Grab any opportunity with both hands that comes your way. The more people you know in the industry, the more your name and art will get out there and the more you will learn. Practice, knowledge and skill is the key to success.
