Can a Celebrant Do Last Minute Weddings?
* A Professional Marriage Celebrant based in Melbourne.
* 2013 Top Male Celebrant in Melbourne Victoria and runner-up in 2014 & 2015.
Under the Australian Marriage Act, one month’s notice must be given to be married here. The notification must be on the Notice of Intended Marriage form and submitted to the celebrant, and that is when the one months notice period commences.
There a few criteria when the state Births Deaths & Marriages office can waive the waiting period, mainly due to the terminal illness of family or bride or groom, for overseas visa job requirements, or if the bride & groom had been planning for a wedding but did not know about the waiting period. Your celebrant will advise you of options.”
