A & A. Ashley and Andrew’s wedding starts with both an A, and ends with a perfect ‘A’ score too. Brought to you by As Sweet As Images , travel on for this soft and demure wedding that blends the lightest hues into a wondrous piece and you can be amazed that the venue itself, White Light, in Lanseria, South Africa is literally a perfect description of their wedding.
They wanted a country or bush wedding, somewhere that felt outdoors and out of the city. But they also wanted it in or around for the ease of planning in only eight months. When they went to look at White Light, which was a very new venue, they knew immediately that that was where they were going to get married. It exceeded all their requirements. Additionally, being so close to Lanseria airport, it was so easy for their family and friends to travel without having to go into Jozi city if they didn’t want to. Guests stayed in nearby lodges, making it a great weekend together.
White Light is such a beautiful, clean, white blank canvas with natural surroundings and amazing light that they wanted to work with the light and decided on baby turquoise, fairy pinks, young greens and ivory whites to bring the room to life with asymmetrical, unmanicured floral arrangements. The venue was perfect for them and with the help of their coordinator and amazing staff, their dream day came to life.
For the wedding itself, much help was garnered from people they know and some DIYs were made. Two sparkling rings beautifully crafted by their friends and the A-line dress bought was a stunning masterpiece to wear.
Andrew’s mom made them a personalized hand painted signage, looking neat and all professional you’ll believed it was printed. The couple, Ashley and Andrew designed their Save the Date magnets and had them laser cut in wood. Meanwhile, Ashley’s brother designed all the printed wedding stationery, as well as their wedding invitation website.
On the other hand, rock roses (succulents) were used in the boutonnieres and flower arrangements were homegrown with love by Andrew’s dad. To include a memory of the couples’ great grandparents, they opted for some hydrangeas in the flower arrangements.
Ashley and Andrew’s wedding was held on their six-year dating anniversary which fell on a perfect Saturday in October. Originally from, Cape Town, Ashley met Andrew, who is from Pretoria. They did their articles at the same company in Johannesburg and met through mutual friends at a social event. The Proposal Pilanesberg is their special place where they go to get away, just the two of them, as often as they can.
Andrew had planned to propose in December but the ring wasn’t ready in time for their holiday. Ashley carefully suggested a Pilanesberg trip in February, and Andrew casually and happily agreed. Letting her run with the planning for their two-night camping getaway, he was so relaxed the whole weekend that Ashley didn’t suspect a thing (only in hindsight were there a few clues).
On their Saturday sunset game drive, Andrew drove Ashley up to our favorite viewpoint, which they had all to themselves, and he proposed on one knee at sunset. It was the most magical moment, and Andrew even had some ice cold champagne ready to celebrate! Soon afterward, as they were close to getting back to the campsite, he instead made a turn into a five-star luxury lodge, where he had booked them a room and private dinner on the deck. It was the most special weekend anyone could think of!
So here they are today at White light, exchanging rings and reading their vows to their love of their life. With a smile on his face, Andrew carefully placed the ring on Ashley’s finger. They kissed in front of the cheering audience and petals came flying all over the newlyweds walking away from the ceremony venue. Photos were taken between family members and the atmosphere of rejoice was so strong that you can see everyone smiling beautifully in every shot every frame.
After the group shots, Ashley and Andrew spared some time for some intimate shots away from the crowd. Under the natural light, the trees and foliage in White Light were shining a bright green yellowish hue, creating a spectrum of warmth to the pictures. Lopsided leaves from the birch trees added a beautiful composition to the pictures and the tall grasses added a particular depth to them, abstract yet full of natural beauty.
The reception was a joyful and beautiful one. Everyone celebrated and the newlyweds got a romantic dance together. Andrew with his strong muscles managed to carry Ashley in the last move, gaining applause and admiration from the guests. A father and daughter dance followed as Ashley got a final last moment to spend some time with her dad.
Thanks again to Ashley and Andrew for their beautiful choice of venue and their perfect wedding that wows us all.
