Although with just a simple and neat formal attire, Andrew & Effie’s wedding was totally captivating. From their choice of venue – a beautiful castle overlooking the brick and stone covered landscape to the clear seas and skies stretching beyond the horizon, their love and the surroundings just makes this wedding an ultimate beauty to behold. Brought to you by Gregory Kalampoukas Photography, this series in Greece has the potential to be a good album.
Andrew & Effie chose to get married at the Castle of Monemvasia. Monemvasia, as a word that derives from the composition of two different words “Moni” meaning “The only” and “Emvasis” meaning “Entrance”, in other words, this stands for the only entrance to the Rock and the renowned Castle Town. Back then, there was an older bridge and at the end of which and at the side of the Rock, a tower had been built.
Four years ago, Andrew and Effie met online. But before you associate it with online dating, you might be surprised by this – it wasn’t online dating. It was a job interview. The two became a team, working closely together from the start despite living on opposite coasts. After countless late night chats and one unforgettable New Year’s Eve, their professional relationship met its destiny in an unstoppable romance. They flipped a coin to decide where they would move, New York became home, and a year later they married in Effie’s family town of Monemvasia, Greece.
Looking handsome and gorgeous, the bride and groom were the highliht of the day. The ceremony was held in a 7th century church, Elkomenos Christos and afterward, family and friends danced, ate lamb, threw flowers, all in a relaxed atmosphere full of joy and love.
After the ceremony, they headed out to the communal area for further photo shooting. With the help of the lovely historical backdrop, their album was never dull. From pink Bougainvillea flowers to the natural flowers within, each frame has a story to tell and our photographer did a great job searching for these beauty spots.
The reception was elegant and a thing to admire! Besides the lovely decorations, the charming twinkling lights throughout the night, there was some fun activity as well for everyone to participate. They smashed hundreds of dinner plates until the sun rose from the sea. It was a one-time experience and Andrew & Effie gave it a shot.
Enveloped within a stone civilization, a place where poets were born and dreamers walked, its hard to not get pulled in by the natural charm this place offers. Thanks again to Andrew and Effie for this beautiful album!
