16 years in a couple’s itinerary could make things sour and duller than the way it is before. But not for Alexa and Michiel. Brought to you by Khiria photographer, their wedding in Provence is an essence of love culminated from a long-term relationship lasting 16 years and two little girls. Definitely worth more than an honorable mention, here we have Alexa and Michiel’s wedding, a wedding where true loves forms through time.
The party happened in the garden of the groom’s parents’ weekend house in the village. Being a backyard party, DIYs are inevitable. A beautiful white-washed door with words was crafted while bulb of lights was hung all over the place.
The wedding dress was demurely a blush of pinkish white. The groom was in a greyish blue suit. Against the grey architecture, their wedding attire catches our eye, creating an ethereal beauty.
The ceremony was held at Hotel De Ville. Guiding Alexa towards the ceremony venue, her dad was all smiles, happy at the thought that her daughter is marrying today.
The ceremony was simple. Vows on to exchange of rings. Alexa’s ring was unique. a double ring which center was encrusted with a round-cut diamond inlayed in another diamond circle. The groom’s ring was straightforward, appearing elegant on his fingers. A little celebration went on later and people had champagne and some refreshment. Purple balloons and a ‘Just Married’ sign fashioned out of nowhere while the girls had purple ribbons to wave, adding a fun element to this wedding.
The backyard reception had its shine too. Varnished tables of golden brown lay in the garden. Linen offset the white table cloth and the long table arrangement was different from the usual round or splitting tables we see. A wooden barn door was created as well guiding the guests to the dining area.
The food on the menu was appetizing. From colorful bell peppers to tarts and ceviches, everything laid neatly in pans ready to be served.
Comfy fabric was placed on top of rustic haystacks creating makeshift seats. A temporary canopy was set up with a planked stage surrounded by lanterns while an alphabet banner hung opposite.
Evening came and everyone settled in their dining chairs, with the newlyweds in the middle. The atmosphere became warm as candles began to lit up the evening and bulb lights added the enchanted feeling to this overall mood. Guests toasted and the sky which was orangy blue shifted to a purple blue hue as the pale yellow moon overlooks the entire countryside.
The candy table was now filled with more snacks, from cakes to macarons, fruits and a cheese and grapes duo platter.
The canopied stage became a place for the long-awaited dance. As the DJ rocks his music, Alexa and Michiel started a dance while confetti sprouted all over. Guests look upon, some clapping and laughing amusedly. It was a beautiful wedding. Simple yet beautiful and full of memories for them both. Thanks again to Alexa and Michiel.
