Q: What first drew you to wedding photography—and how did you got the interest?
A: I used to play at my grand fathers old Studio when I was just a little boy when I Visited him from Dubai to Pakistan. After moving to Canada I was influenced how we can capture happy people in a unique way by viewing my mentors work Mark Pawlyszyn. He was the best and I learned my starting Art from him. That’s where my journey started just 6 years ago.
Q: Who influenced you the most? Is there any other photographer that you consider as a kind of idol?
A: Mark Pawlyszyn influenced me the most but recently I’ve been trained and mentored by Jerry Ghionis who is the Top wedding photographer in the world. And then a lot of tutorials from Joel Grimes and Lindsay Adler.
Q: Since the photography techniques and equipment change quickly, it is important to stay up-to-date. What do you do to always keep up with the times?
A: I always do different tactics for every wedding I do and always have a game plan or a story board for the couple of their unique shots. I keep up to date on networking sites like SLRLOUNGE. And in gear and lighting. Lighting differently in every wedding makes me stand out. That way I know what’s the latest trend in the market and I use those techniques learned into wedding to surprise couples or individuals.
Q: How would you describe your working style? Can you show us a sample picture?
A: My work style is Elegant and editorial fashion in magazine with a touch of fine art. Samples images are on my website.
Q: We would love to see your most favorite picture. Among your works, which one is your most favorite and Why?
A: The couple running on a crashed plane In ICELAND is my favourite. A lot of elements went into this image. First we had to walk in freezing temperatures for at least 1 hr to get to the plane. Then the high winds and tourists were challenging and cold. At the end the vision and braveness shown by the couple sealed the deal.
Q: How do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
A: As an educator and top photographers in the world.
Q: What piece of advice can you give to photographers who are just starting their career especially in the wedding industry?
A: Always seek a mentor and go around assisting photographers who are in top of their game. Educate yourself more and spend money on education for photography instead of gear.
Remember it’s not the gear it’s the Art created and the process behind it. In weddings always make sure that you really want to become one and don’t run after money. Once you are big money and destination weddings will run after you. Be persistent and be nice with the challenging couples to yield great results after all it’s your name on the line.
