Q: Hi Nico, we’re very happy to be interviewing you today. In your journey of photography, is here a photographer that you see as an idol?
A: Hi, if we’re talking about an idol, I can say that I have none or I can say that I have very many. I am no restricted to a certain photographer’s style or concept, but honestly I do feel very small and that is why I’ve studied the works of many excellent photographers. Looking from the point of view of wedding and bridal photography, I’ve always felt that what the client needs may be even more important than what photography needs. To combine the two together is what I see the essence of wedding photography。
Q: Nico, your works are very well-liked and perhaps even used as a teaching material by many photographers new to the industry. Personally what are your favourite topics in photography? and what is a style you’re good at?
A: Personally I like to photograph the interactions between people and also some street photography. It think I’m good at revealing people’s expressions, also pay attention to the usage of colours and what they represent in the photographs.
Q: You’ve photographed many weddings, do you have one that’s very impressionable? Can you share it with us?
A: There was a wedding in Bangkok, where the couple’s story began and it was a coming together of two religions, hence it was a very unconventional type of wedding. A monk was present to bless the wedding, there was the gathering of family and friends and also included very many exciting wedding elements and honest emotions.
Every one of Nico’s works makes you stare at it with nostalgia, you can’t help but appreciate every photograph with slight smile. This is the power of photography, he catches the nerve endings to our sight and translates many emotions to our hearts. Perhaps after 10 or 20 years you may feel differently about the wedding you once had in these photographs, but these precious images stay in your heart and on these touching prints. We’d like to once again thank Nico for sharing these beautiful pictures with us.
