La Bride is extremely happy to welcome Australian floral designer Lina, from Chanele Rose Flowers to the Expert Insight series.
Lina left an office job and followed her passion to create individual and stunning floral arrangements for brides. This led to expanding the business to event styling and planning. Lina tells us about how she got to where she is today, and what is in demand for a modern brides bouquet.
Q: Welcome to La Bride, Lina ! Let’s start with a bit on an insight, what’s the story behind why you created Chanele Rose?
A: Chanele Rose flowers all really began as a hobby after having my second child- “Chanele”.
I had to leave my job in the corporate world as I found it too difficult to travel to an office each day for work, and attended a few floristry short courses which I loved. I decided to pursue a part time Tafe course – in Floristry. One thing led to another and within a few years I found myself booked out with wedding work!
Q: Did you study floristry before going into business?
A: I started with a few short courses and worked part time with a local retail florist and also assisted a well known wedding florist on weekends.
I found that I loved the wedding industry and decided to pursue a Tafe course which after a few years gained my Advanced Certificate in Floristry. During this time I looked after some of my own weddings bookings and events.
Q: It’s not all just about the bouquet, what other flower arrangements do you provide for a wedding day?
A: Bridal Bouquets and buttonholes are really only the start of wedding florals we do.
We also do ceremony styling such as floral arches, church urns florals for pews and reception table centrepieces, bridal table flowers. In the past few years our hanging floral installations have also become very popular amongst brides and grooms who want something a little more exciting to help style their wedding!
Q: Why do you like incorporating some non traditional wedding flowers and flora like husks and pods, berries and vines?
A: The traditional rose bouquets are definitely a thing of the past, we find that Chanele Rose brides are always after something a little more interesting. Gorgeous details such as pods, berries and vines, unusual foliages and unique flowers are becoming more and more in demand.
Q: Do you think the flower styling at a wedding can sometimes be overlooked? Why is it important to see the bigger picture when creating a wedding?
A: I do find that sometimes brides on a budget may not realise the importance of flowers at their wedding day especially. Most brides will come to see us at their final stages of their wedding planning process and they have already out blown their original wedding budget, saying they have spent so much on photography video cars, reception, dress etc. However we do understand that a weddings are expensive, but to be honest when you have your perfect dress a gorgeous bouquet which is styled beautifully will go along way to create the “dream” final look!
Also with your reception venue for example – you have spent thousands on – and if not styled appropriately can end up looking very cheap! We always recommend a Bride considers how much lovelier your photos and video will look once your venue is styled beautifully with gorgeous florals!
Q: You also style entire wedding events at Chanele Rose. What pushes and inspires you to create more and more stunning wedding experiences for your clients?
A: Generally inspiration comes to us for our dealings with the couple. We try to incorporate the couples dream theme, favourite flowers, we also draw inspiration from the brides gown, location of venue and surrounding elements.
Most brides these days have a Pinterest board already set up with hundreds of images of inspiration, and many various styles which they like, so we work closely together with our couples to help decide on a specific theme and mood they wish to set for the day. On most occasions it takes a few meetings with our brides to finalise all the aspects and come up with the perfect options for them to help their wedding become their dream they have always wanted.
Thank you Lina, we adore your floral creations, and wish you all the success in the future.
