Destination weddings like those in the breathtaking Greek islands have its perks, but weddings in unexplored hidden gems do have their own magic too. Matt & Joey, our couple, proof that true by laying out the beautiful backdrop of Evia Island right before our eyes. Photographed by Stories About Love by Gregory Kalampoukas, their calm and tranquil wedding right in the heart of the Aegean seas sets a beautiful headstart for their journey ahead.
A mere one hour and a half from Athens, Evia Island is all but a similar world in terms of peace, tranquility and privacy. The location of their wedding was at the southern tip of the island. Known as Villa Delenia, it consists of six separate buildings, handmade entirely from stone, wood and other eco-friendly materials. Greek islands are often characterized by their stark white buildings surrounded by cobalt blue sea and sky but Villa Delenia is definitely something different from the norm. Intertwined on streets, they even have hidden passages, a Turkish steam room and of course, a spectacular outdoor terrace overlooking the Aegean. The pair joined their very special day with a small group of friends and family, surrounded by flowers of original nature and danced till late at night under the dreamy lit sky of stars. The light blue sky overhead and the spectacular view of the turquoise sea, along with the beautiful small details of the wedding, all exuded a very romantic and lovely atmosphere in the nature of Matt & Joey’s wedding.
Just like this 50th-anniversary piece of Anne Morrow Lindbergh, the out of the hustle bustle surroundings send a message of youth, peace, solitude and contentment. Drawing inspiration from the shells on the shore, Lindbergh’s musings on her life is capable of bringing new understanding to both men and women, as well as solidifying a new serene concept about life. And that is what a couple fundamentally strives for, living peacefully yet whole-heartedly striving for a better tomorrow.
Joey’s day started of some fun with Matt in the pool. Splashing and chilling away, it was soon time for the wedding preparations. Christine Panagopoulou ,our hairstylist and makeup artist did a splendid job. Beautiful and voluminous hair ending at her shoulders was set in place with some gel to soften and diminish Joey’s angular features.
Joey’s sweetheart neckline wedding dress was a simple piece brought together by a beautiful belt that sparkles of beads and details. Hanging against the door, the mahogany coloured wood sets a striking contrast against the silky white dress, drawing our attention to the flow and beauty of her wedding dress. When worn, and standing against the window, Joey luminates with a amicable elegance.
Matt was also donning on his suit. A sea inspired cut of light blue short trousers made it a little different from the formal wear we see in weddings. To accompany that trousers, an equally cheeky bow tie was cuffed at his collar. Our handsome groom is now all ready to stand before the guests and wait for his bride!
With amazing bouquet of flowers by Anais Décor , striking in a shade of pink and blue, our bridesmaids slowly walk out to the venue. They lead the path before our bride Joey appears.
At the center, they gathered and exchanged their vows. Looking fondly into each other’s eyes, the deep connection sparks. It was the love they first knew all over again.
After tying the knot and pronounced married, Matt and Joey had that grin and smile that could blind you. Dazzling under the air of flower petals, these newlyweds are excited as hell to start their future together. Be it ups and downs, they promised to cherish each other and be a listener, companion and lover to the other.
The reception was outdoors as well. Dainty flowers of the same pink and blue was placed into mason jars. Stationary was printed on cardboard hue cards and the gifts were wrap with an eye-catching purple. Glasses and tableware laid neatly into a circle, and comfy, wooden backrest chairs line around it.
While the couples were busy with their intimate photos, guests start pouring into the reception area to mingle. In these photos, Matt and Joey took the opportunity to take wondrous pictures with all kinds of bakground. From seas stretching far beyond to unique murals on the island, every single detail of the island was not put to waste. (Of course it shouldn’t be!)
Chain bulbs hung onto wooden frames guarded the entrance. Food was prepared by their preferred caterer, La Chocolatiere. The night was young and everyone enjoyed it to their fullest. Taking in the surroundings and the food, it ended with dances and music. Some of their guests even got up from their seats and started chanllenging others to join in the fun.
Tranquility makes a wedding intimate yet memorable. Thanks to this couple for their easygoing take onto this wedding. We love them and wish them the best to come!
