A Vietnamese couple’s wedding in Denver city may seem common. But a one that still upholds a traditional ceremony may seem rarer nowadays. Join Jennifer and Scott into their wedding day captured by Sara Hasstedt and catch a glimpse of how tradition blends well with modernity!
Keeping with the custom of their heritage, Jennifer and Scott held a traditional tea ceremony the day before that began at the mother of the bride’s home where Scott, the groom had to propose to Jen in front of friends and family. They honored their elders by serving them tea and doing a prayer official ritual. It was a beautiful way to honor family traditions and get ready for the big day!
For a more traditional look for the traditional part, Jennifer puts on a stunning white and silver Ao dai with a matching white Khan Dong, a Vietnamese wedding headscarf element that’s vital for weddings.
The tea ceremony where this couple presents their elders with cup of tea as a sign of respect. As an exchange, the elders usually give red packets to the couple as a token of blessing.
The second ceremony was a traditional catholic mass that took place at a gorgeous church downtown. Traditionally, besides the color red, gold brings luck as well. Jennifer’s modern wedding dress was a simple fit lace bus tiered over a flared skirt. With earrings from Tiffany & Co., gold watches and rings to go for the wedding, the wedding invitation must be classy as well! With a minimalistic design, cursive font was set on white paper with some neat cutouts of base gold.
Flushes of light pink add a natural glow to Jennifer’s makeup, giving her a refreshing look.
For the ceremony itself, as Catholics, St. Elazabeth Church became an idela choice for the ceremony. Looking classy in sunglasses, Jennifer is one hot bride stepping down from the car!
Leaded down the aisle by her dad, she soon regains close proximity with Scott. The priest offers them blessings as they both took their own vows to cherish each other forever and be the spouse the other needs. Jennifer grew teary holding Scott’s hands and we can see how happy she is behind those tears. After exchanging the rings, they were both pronounced as husband and wife.
And a great kiss ensued. Many hugs followed along.
Before the reception, the photographer managed to capture some private shots of the couple. Look at them staring at each other. So sweet!
And this hug!
For the reception, same golden dining chairs brighten the white tables at Tivoli Turnhalle. And a cute little tree or mini tree with white flowers become the center piece of the table. A neat cute menu was settled on the plates along with careful placing of chopsticks with a white ribbon, as if invinting you to your meal!
Just like the wedding dress. Two wedding cakes from Cakeheads Bakery make Jennifer and Scott’s day. One was a three tiered golden one with watercolour like painting of flowers around while the other fits the modern description with a white base, colourful chocolate beads and a ‘Love’ word above.
Gleefully dancing and enjoying a kiss after the cake, all these sweet romantic moments just convince us that they are perfect for one another. Thanks again to this couple for a fresh insight into both a traditional and modern wedding at the same time.
