Read on to hear California wedding planner Sarah Grace Renfro advice to couples who are just starting to plan their weddings.
Q: Hi Sara Grace, We’re happy to be able to learn more about you! To start will you tell us about your journey to becoming a wedding planner? What makes you so passionate about your career?
A: When I was a little girl at Disneyland with my parents I remember looking at the woman in the headset walking behind the parade in awe of how she was in charge of such a beautiful production. Never wanting to be the center of attention, I found very quickly I work well behind the scenes but still wanted to make magic happen! I spent years working my way up in the hospitality industry – waitressing, hotel front desks, interning for wedding planners, etc. After working at two prestigious wedding venues helping brides coordinate their weddings I had the experience and courage to open my own company. My passion for weddings is driven by my love to create close relationships and meaningful moments with brides across the country.
Q: Do you have a philosophy you live by? How does this philosophy benefit you as a wedding planner?
A: “There is always time to be kind” – I’ve lived by this since I was a little girl and hold myself to this standard every day. As a wedding planner, I hold people’s feelings & emotions close to heart and try to treat each couple’s wedding as I would my own. It’s easy for me to be kind to vendors, family and all of my clients because they’re the sweetest group of people!
Q: What do you enjoy most about the planning process? What keeps you motivated?
A: The planning process is unique to each couple and I absolutely love pulling elements from what’s important to them to incorporate in their weddings. Every wedding has its own flavor + vibe, and I’m always listening to what is important to my client instead of pushing the newest trends or designs I want to see.
Q: As a planner you’ve probably seen it all and have learned how to navigate the stresses of coordinating a wedding. What is one piece of advice you’d give to a couple just starting to plan a wedding?
A: The biggest piece of advice I can give a couple is to prioritize your relationship over the wedding. Don’t let planning take over your life and dominate your conversations! Keep the romance alive by making checklists and planning the wedding a little at a time. Also, leaning on professionals helps absorb the stress so hire vendors that you get along with, respond to your emails quickly and bring a sense of calm to the day.
Q: With so much successes so far in your career where do you see this taking you in the future?
A: I see With Grace & Love Events expanding to the destination wedding market and working with clients across the world. We’re also working on a few projects to expand our portfolio and what we’re able to offer brides alongside wedding coordination. Cannot wait to share with everyone!
What lovely insight Sara Grace as shared with us. A wedding where the focus is “to always be kind” and is centered on relationships is sure to be beautiful. For more information about Sara Grace and the weddings she’s planned check out her website With Grace and Love.
